President William Ruto has sent a new group of Kenyan ambassadors and high commissioners to represent the country in different parts of the world. Their main role is to promote trade, attract investment, and support Kenya’s economic goals abroad.

The diplomats were officially sent off during a ceremony held at State House in Nairobi on Tuesday. President Ruto said the envoys carry the hopes, values, and dreams of the Kenyan people.

He described serving as a country’s representative abroad as a great honor and reminded the diplomats of their responsibility to protect Kenya’s national interests and build strong relationships with other countries.

Ruto explained that the diplomats will focus on economic diplomacy, meaning their work will aim at real results that help grow Kenya’s economy. Their mission is linked to Kenya’s plan to become a first-world economy through programs such as the National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

The president said the ambassadors and high commissioners are expected to look for trade and investment opportunities that will create jobs for young people and improve the lives of Kenyans.

The diplomats were appointed in October 2025 after being approved by Parliament’s Defence Committee. Among those appointed are former Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore, who will serve as High Commissioner to Namibia, and Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri, who will be Kenya’s ambassador to Turkey.

Others include Lucy Kiruthu (Thailand), Henry Wambuma (Burundi), Abdirashid Salat Abdille (Indonesia), Joseph Musyoka Masila (Saudi Arabia), and Edwin Afande (Austria).

Kenya also appointed two Consuls General. Jayne Jepkorir will represent Kenya in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, while Judy Kiaria Nkumiri will serve in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.
