Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah M. Barasa, accompanied by Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai, appeared before the Senate Select Committee on Delegated Legislation to address concerns about the tariffs under the Social Health Insurance Act.
Dr. Barasa highlighted the importance of publishing the tariffs, stressing their impact on the accessibility and affordability of healthcare for millions of Kenyans. She reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in healthcare financing during the implementation of the program.
The CS assured the Senators that the tariffs would be developed in consultation with all stakeholders and invited them to a validation exercise on , 2024, at the Kenyatta International Conference Center.
She expressed gratitude to the Senators for their input and guidance, noting that their contributions would enhance the tariffs and other guidelines, advancing the goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
